997.2 Buyer’s Checklist

Full service history with invoices, intervals kept
PDK service done (due around 60,000 km)
VIN on the papers matches the car
Option list checked against the build sheet (option code decoder)
Accident and repair history asked for, in writing if possible
Number of owners and import history known

Body & exterior

Paint thickness measured on every panel, especially the front end
Even panel gaps, no overspray on rubbers and trim
Exhaust checked for rust
Taillights free of condensation
Soft top opens and closes smoothly, no tears, rear window clear
Glass roof slides fully open, seals intact, no water stains inside

Engine

Engine is cold when you arrive: listen to the cold start, no smoke, no rattles
Front coolant pipes dry, no white residue
High mileage or patchy history: borescope check for bore scoring
No oil leaks at engine and gearbox
DME read out for over-rev ranges (missed shifts)

Gearbox & drive

Clutch bites cleanly, no slip under full load in high gears
PDK shifts smoothly at low speed, software version asked
All wheel drive works without noises in tight turns
Rattle at idle from the single mass flywheel: normal, not a fault

Suspension, brakes & tyres

No knocks over bumps (control arm bushings)
Brake discs and pads checked, no pulsing under hard braking
PCCB ceramic brakes (if fitted): discs checked by a specialist, replacement is very expensive
Front lift system (if fitted) works and does not leak
Matching N rated tyres, not older than six years
Car runs straight, steering wheel centred

Electrics & interior

PCM 3.0 works: navigation, Bluetooth, no freezing
Battery healthy, ask if a trickle charger was used
Air conditioning blows cold
Windows, mirrors, seats and all switches work

Model specific

Clean, even boost on the test drive, no hesitation (VTG actuators)
Signs of track use checked: tyre and brake wear, holes for harness or cage
